Cradle to Cradle
Full Scope (Version 5.0)
Cradle to Cradle Certified® (C2C) evaluates products from a life-cycle perspective and brings together requirements related to materials, circularity, climate, and social conditions, among other factors, into a single comprehensive framework.
Why this certification?
Cradle to Cradle Certified® is relevant because it provides a holistic assessment of a product’s environmental impact—from raw materials and production to post-use management.
"Full Scope" means that the assessment covers the standard's full framework, and Version 5.0 has been strengthened with a focus on verifiable data and documented improvements over time.
Here's How It Creates Value for You
For customers and business partners, the certification provides a single, comprehensive basis for documentation regarding materials, circularity, climate, and social conditions.
- This makes it easier to choose printed materials with a more clearly documented commitment to sustainability
- And it makes it easier to use the documentation in procurement, ESG efforts, and reporting.
Scorecard
On our product scorecard, you can see how our product line performs across the five categories of the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard, which together assess a product’s circularity and sustainability performance.

Because materials matter
What are our printed materials actually made of—and what impact do these materials have on people and the environment? By focusing on the chemical composition of these materials, GreenPrint by Johnsen works to promote greater transparency, better material selection, and fewer problematic substances.
When Pressure Becomes Part of a Circuit
At Johnsen, we incorporate circularity right from the very first considerations regarding materials and design. We explore how we can create printed materials that not only have value in the here and now, but also have the potential to be incorporated into new cycles.
From Energy Consumption to Emissions
At Johnsen, we look not only at the finished product, but also at how it is produced. Energy consumption, emissions, and the use of renewable energy are therefore an important part of our efforts to reduce our impact on the climate and air quality.
Responsible Water and Land Use
Water and soil are valuable resources that we must protect. At Johnsen, we work to understand and reduce the impact our production has on the aquatic environment and soil—including by focusing on water consumption, chemicals, and production processes.
Responsibility is also about people
At Johnsen, responsible production isn’t just a matter of materials and the environment. It’s also about the people who are part of our company and our value chain. That’s why we’re committed to fair working conditions, human rights, and responsible business practices.

Case Study: Green Power Denmark
When a brick-and-mortar store needs to align with a green agenda
Green Power Denmark is working to accelerate the electrification of Denmark with green electricity. It was therefore only natural that the organization wanted to take a critical look at its print member magazine, *Naturlig Energi*, and ensure that the publication better reflected the organization’s own green identity.
The magazine was already printed on FSC®-certified paper, but with an Cradle to Cradle Certified® print solution, Green Power Denmark was able to take its documentation to the next level.
Among other things, the certification evaluates materials, chemicals, circularity, and social conditions, thereby providing a stronger basis for choosing printed materials with a proven track record of responsibility.
For Green Power Denmark, the decision was therefore not about whether or not to go with a print edition, but about choosing a print edition with greater transparency and a more solid foundation of documentation. When *Naturlig Energi* reaches its members, it must align with the organization’s message about the green transition—including in the way the magazine is produced.
This collaboration demonstrates how certifications, material selection, and consulting can make a tangible difference in a client’s ESG efforts.
For Green Power Denmark, this means a member magazine that not only promotes the green transition but is also produced with a greater emphasis on documented consideration for materials, people, and the environment.
