What is showrooming?

Showrooming is a growing trend where customers visit a store to take a closer look at or try a product and then order the product from the seller. In some cases, this can be cheaper than online.

This is because many customers still feel the need to see an item in person before they choose to buy it, but the often lower internet price makes them put their money online instead of in-store.

This strategy puts a lot of pressure on many physical stores as they spend resources on displaying the product, but ultimately fail to make the purchase. Therefore, more and more physical stores have also started to introduce price matching to increase the chances of a sale.

However, this strategy is also good if you sell more expensive products that customers may not dare to buy directly online until they have seen and felt the product. This strategy is used by furniture giant Bolia, among others.
