Rotogravure printing essentially uses the same technology as sheet-fed offset, where text and images are transferred onto a metal plate(CTP). The plate is then inked with ink, which is printed on the printing sheet/paper. Rotogravure printing is printed on roll paper, which results in a much shorter production time than, for example, offset printing with individual printing sheets. Rotary printing should therefore be used for larger print runs.
