Varnish is used for printing for both visual and practical reasons: it brings out the colors and gives the final printed matter a nice finish and gloss. It also provides a dirt-repellent surface that is also pleasant to the touch. Therefore, varnish also helps to protect the surface, increase durability, resist heat or cold while also preventing colors from rubbing off. There are several different types of varnish, but the most popular are water-based varnish, partial varnish and UV varnish.
